Bill McLean joined Ozmo in early 2010. Most recently, Bill was co-founder and CEO of GloNav, a fabless semiconductor company that manufactured GPS receivers for the cellular market. Bill successfully sold the company to NXP in January of 2008 for $110M where it ultimately became part of ST Ericsson's wireless group. Prior to GloNav, Bill was President and CEO of Anadigm, a fabless semiconductor company producing field programmable analog arrays (FPAAs).
Before joining Anadigm, he served as President, U.S. Operations of Parthus Technologies which dual listed on the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. He joined Parthus from Authentec, a biometrics firm that he assisted in spinning out from Harris Corporation, where he was Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. At Harris Semiconductor, he served as Vice President and General Manager where he assisted in their launch of Wi-Fi products. He began his career at Texas Instruments where he held various management positions.
Bill holds a BSEE from Christian Brothers University, Memphis, Tennesse.
Dr. Vleugels co-founded H-Stream Wireless, now Ozmo Devices, in 2004. She has over 10 years of experience in analog, mixed-signal and high-frequency RF integrated circuit design. Before co-founding the company, Dr. Vleugels held engineering positions at Atheros Communications, where she designed analog and RF circuits for wireless LAN chipsets. In this role, she was a key contributor to the industry's first single-chip 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN solution. Prior to her tenure at Atheros, Dr. Vleugels was one of the first employees at Aeluros (acquired by NetLogic Microsystems), a provider of high-integration low-power CMOS-based broadband communication chips, where she was pivotal in the successful development of the industry's first low-power 10 Gigabit CMOS transceiver chip.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Vleugels held design engineering positions with Texas Instruments and CERN (European Center for Particle Physics).
Dr. Vleugels received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University for her work on high-bandwidth, high-resolution CMOS A/D converter design. She also holds an MSEE from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. In 2002, she was appointed Consulting Assistant Professor at Stanford University. Dr. Vleugels has co-authored numerous technical publications and has over 10 patents pending.
Mr. Rand joined Granite Ventures in May 2002, after spending nearly three decades working inside both public and private companies. As CEO of four private companies, he successfully turned them into public entities through acquisition. Prior to joining Granite, Mr. Rand was General Manager of Strategic Marketing and Global Alliances for the Intel Communications Group (ICG) at Intel Corp. Mr. Rand joined Intel after serving as CEO and Founder of NetBoost Corp., which was acquired by Intel in 1999. NetBoost was a developer of network processor silicon, subsystems and software development systems. Prior to NetBoost, he was Co-founder of Internet Middleware, Inc., an Internet proxy caching company acquired by Network Appliance, Inc. in 1997, as well as CEO of The Whitewater Group (acquired by Symantec). Mr. Rand was also CEO at the Rand Group (acquired by Intergraph Corp.), and was Vice President & General Manager at both Intergraph and Autodesk, Inc. Mr. Rand has extensive technical and operational background in the semiconductor and communications industries, and focuses his investments in communications and components companies. He serves on the Boards of Directors for Aspen Avionics, Ozmo Devices and PowerGenix. He holds several degrees including a BS in Building Sciences, a BS in Engineering, a BArch degree in Architecture, and an MS in Structural Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Pavlov brings broad experience in venture capital, private equity, operations and technology to Tallwood. His ability to take a high-level business perspective helps him guide portfolio companies through complex decisions. Mr. Pavlov spends a portion of his time thinking about how Tallwood can expand beyond its early stage venture practice, which helps the firm plan for the future.
Prior to joining Tallwood, Mr. Pavlov was CEO of eTime Capital, a troubled enterprise software and services company that he restructured to achieve optimal liquidation. Earlier, he was General Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Mayfield, a venture capital fund. Before that, he was the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of Blum Capital Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm and registered investment advisor. Mr. Pavlov also held several financial and sales management positions at NeXT Computer, where he prepared industry and company strategic overviews, developed an expanded distribution strategy and managed customer satisfaction programs.
Mr. Pavlov serves on the boards of directors of Amulaire Thermal Technology, Astute Networks, Audience Inc., Calypto Design Systems, Crossing Automation Inc., M2000, Ozmo Devices, Quintic Corporation, and SVTC.
Mr. Pavlov holds a BS in Accounting from Boston College.
